DuPont StormRoom with Kevlar is an aboveground, in-home shelter reinforced with Kevlar. Kevlar is five times stronger than steel on an equal weight basis and can withstand wind speeds of up to 250 miles-per-hour. Kevlar brand fiber is built inside reinforced wall panels, providing the stopping power needed to help keep families safe during storms.
The DuPont shelter meets the Federal Emergency Management Agency's National Performance Criteria for hurricane and tornado shelters.
Available in a number of rectangular configurations, the StormRoom can be finished to match the house. When not in use, the room can double as a usable living area, such as an extra closet or powder room. The safe room allows for electricity and plumbing installation, as well as cell phone and radio reception.
