EZ Stairs, Inc.
EZ Stairs® is a major, new advancement in building stairs. The patented product has received impressive reviews from contractors and carpenters in controlled field testing. EZ Stairs® features patented adjustable parallel brackets that allow skilled carpenters, as well as the do-it-yourself handyman, to save time and money, while building quality stairs of superior strength and structural integrity.
"To see this product receive such a positive response among tradesmen who are entrenched in the old method of building stairs is a dream come true," says Richard Truckner, the inventor of EZ Stairs®. "Not only will we be saving contractors time and money on the job, but what's most exciting about this product to me is that it makes the process of building the perfect stairs automatic every time for everyone," added Truckner. He originally created EZ Stairs® as the answer for do-it-yourself homeowners that were having a tough time constructing their own deck stairs.
Like those homeowners, contractors are all too familiar with the difficulty involved in building stairs. Often, workers will waste a considerable amount of time and materials on stairs that must be scrapped and then rebuilt. "In many places, getting it right the first time has become a dying art," said Mark Dunne of Dunne Construction in Oakland,California. "When you make a wrong cut in building traditional stairs, the majority of the time the wood is lost, but with this product, a wrong placement just means you have to unscrew the adjustable brackets and place them properly, continued Dunne, whose firm conducted field testing on EZ Stairs®. The results of Dunne's testing were quite impressive. One of his top carpenters built two flights of stairs, one using the traditional methods and materials of stair construction, and the other was constructed with EZ Stairs® (his first time using EZ Stairs). The traditional stairs took 88 minutes to construct, while the EZ Stair took only 53 minutes. With a little experience using EZ Stairs®, building times get faster and faster. In addition, the conventional stairs required 52 saw cuts, while EZ Stairs® required only six, resulting in corresponding savings in material waste, cleanup and cartage. OVERALL, THE PROJECTED PROFIT- INCREASE RATING, AS A RESULT OF EZ STAIR'S TIME AND LABOR EFFICIENCY WAS 53%
In addition to this productivity increase, EZ Stairs® proved to be substantially stronger than conventional stairs in recent load tests conducted by Testing Engineers, Inc. exceeding the Universal Building Code uniform load requirements by a factor of 12-1. Dunne said that another use for the EZ Stair brackets was in the preparation of concrete formwork and, in this case, once the concrete has been poured and has set, the brackets can be removed and reused. This unique application for concrete formwork makes EZ Stairs® the only product available for constructing reusable, adjustable concrete formwork for stairs.
